Description

The Contemporary Reading Woman Bronze Sculpture stands 150cm tall, presenting a naturalistic female figure at life-size scale, settled into a wicker-pattern armchair with one leg draped over the armrest, chin resting in her hand, and an open book held in her lap. The pose is unhurried and entirely convincing, capturing the specific weight of absorbed concentration.

Cast Bronze, Hand-Finished Patina

Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, this life-size bronze figure sculpture is finished by hand to develop a warm brown patina, with lighter tonal variations emerging on the raised surfaces of the woven chair texture and the curls of the figure's upswept hair. The wicker pattern of the armchair is rendered in full relief, each interlaced band carrying the same weight and finish as the figure herself. This level of surface articulation is characteristic of hand-finished cast bronze sculpture at this scale, where patina is not applied uniformly but allowed to follow the form.

At 150cm and 160kg, the piece commands serious floor space without dominating it. She suits a double-height entrance hall, a generous library or reading room, a covered courtyard, or a sheltered garden terrace. Her warm bronze tones sit naturally against pale stone, dark hardwood, aged brick, or polished concrete. The piece is equally at home indoors and outdoors, as cast bronze is impervious to weather and develops further character over time in exterior settings.

Handmade to Order, Fully Customisable

Patina options include dark brown, verde green, black, and natural unsealed bronze, each altering the mood of the piece considerably. Scale can be adjusted to suit your specific space, from a reduced three-quarter version to an over-life-size commission. The composition itself can be modified for bespoke projects, inspired by the work of contemporary figurative sculptors working in the seated-figure tradition. Contact us before ordering to discuss any customisation requirements.
